IPFrontline.com

Palo Alto, CaliforniaCooley LLP announced today that Ronald S. Lemieux has joined the firm as a partner in its intellectual property litigation practice. He will be resident in Cooley’s Palo Alto office. Lemieux joins Cooley from Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker LLP.

Lemieux has tried a substantial number of IP cases during his career, representing leading technology, life sciences and financial services companies in patent, trademark, trade dress and unfair competition disputes in state and federal courts and domestic and international arbitrations. He has a growing Asia-focused IP and litigation practice, having been recently acknowledged by Chambers Asia 2010 as a leading overseas counsel in Taiwan. Lemieux is scheduled to start a patent trial for a Taiwanese technology company within weeks of joining Cooley.

“Cooley has established itself as a major player in the IP litigation arena and has an extremely talented IP team handling high-stakes matters both nationally and internationally,” said Lemieux. “I very much look forward to becoming a part of the team and further expanding its reach and depth of capability.”

“Ron is an experienced, talented litigator who will be a terrific addition to our busy intellectual property practice and we are delighted to welcome him to Cooley,” said Frank Pietrantonio, chair of the firm’s IP practice.

Lemieux earned his A.B. in Political Science and Communications from Stanford University and his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he was the Executive Articles Editor of Comment, The Hastings Journal of Communications and Entertainment Law and a 1066 Foundation Scholar.

“Our litigation department continues to experience tremendous momentum -- our current docket spans more than 80 state and federal courts and arbitral bodies,” said Mike Rhodes, chair of Cooley’s litigation department. “With Ron’s depth of experience in technology and life sciences, as well as the international scope of his practice, I am confident that he will be a valuable addition to the firm.”
